It was Sunday morning. We were getting ready to go to the dog show. Before we got ready, my mum had to wash Jurra in the shower. Jurra left a lot of hair in there for me to pick up. I went into my room and got changed into some scruffy clothes. When everyone was ready, I-Jay told Jurra to get in the back of the truck. I-Jay got a bowl and filled it up with cold water.
The dog show was in Hamilton. When we reached Hamilton, my dad said, “I will quickly go to the gas station, ” but I-Jay cried ,“ NO, go to the show or we will miss it.” I read the sign on the footpath. It said, “ Dog Show, ” and was pointing to the left, BUT....... my dad got lost. He was driving around in circles like crazy, saying, “Where do I go - left or right?" I kept on saying, “Left,” until he turned left. Finally, our nightmare was over.
When we got there, Jurra jumped out of the truck and into the show ground. She was so excited to see all the bulldogs. Running into her new cage, she got comfortable, patiently waiting for her turn.
I was watching the other dogs go around the ring. Mum’s friend, Tui, and her dog were up next. Tui’s little puppy won five first prize ribbons because she stood up high and looked at the judges and she was clean and well groomed.
